Why buy property in Türkiye?
Türkiye is one of the most popular countries for buying property abroad: a long Mediterranean and Aegean coastline, many sunny months, modern new-build projects and – compared with much of Southern Europe – moderate prices. Foreign buyers from most countries can purchase in their own name.
The main regions
- Antalya – the largest city on the Turkish Riviera, with city beaches, an international airport and districts for every budget.
- Alanya – a resort town east of Antalya with a large international community and many complexes by the sea.
- Bodrum and Fethiye – the Aegean and Lycian coast in Muğla: bays, marinas and villas in the premium segment.
- Didim and Kuşadası – Aegean towns in Aydın, popular for holiday homes at moderate prices.
- Mersin – the eastern Mediterranean coast with comparatively low prices and many new projects.
- Istanbul – the economic centre, for city living and investment.
Buying as a foreigner
You need a Turkish tax number and usually a Turkish bank account; the title deed (tapu) is transferred at the land registry. The title deed fee is 4% of the declared price and is shared by law between buyer and seller. A purchase can support a residence permit; from USD 400,000 an application for Turkish citizenship is possible. Our buying process guide explains every step.
